  2. How to migrate from UMS V10 to V11:
  3.  
  4. 1) cd to your mb. Make sure umsserver ist _not_ running.
  5.  
  6. 2) Use addsysname to convert old MsgIDs and RefIDs in your MB. Use
  7. your _old_ "Domain-Address"! Get a cup of coffee...
  8.  
  9. 3) Make sure you old ums.config does not contain difficult quoted
  10. strings. Any occurence of '**' or '*"' is considered difficult. Remove
  11. these config-strings und re-create them with the new quote-char '\'
  12. after successfully converting the MB.
  13.  
  14. 4) Use umsconvert to convert the ums.config. Backup your old
  15. ums.config. Rename ums.newconfig to ums.config.
  16.  
  17. 5) Run umsserver, ignore some obsolete vars.
  18.  
  19. 6) Use umspasswd or confums to make umsserver rewrite ums.config.
  20.  
  21. 7) Look at the new ums.config. Check everything. Gateways with
  22. netgroups need special care! Some hints:
  23.  
  24.  - no more "groupfilter"
  25.  
  26.  - NODEMODE is now a pattern matching all groups that are in nodemode.
  27.  
  28.  - SYSNAME has change and partly been replaced by MSGID. See
  29. documentation 'server-strings.txt'.
